  • May 04, 2011-A cicada, same group as yesterday's picture a little more details. This is the Diceroprocta apache species. The red eyes are the giveaway. They produce the loudest sounds in the insect world recorded at over 100 decibels and it's the males that make the noise to call the females. The adult male cicada possesses two ribbed membranes one on each side of its first abdominal segment. By contracting and releasing the membranes a sound is made. There is more to it, but I won't give a biology lesson. They also make these sounds in defense. (Day 124:365 @sharkbayte)

  • April 19, 2011-Cool colors on this flower. As usual I am not sure what this is as it's in my neighbor’s yard. I love her yard; she has so many different flowers growing all over. (Day 109:365 @sharkbayte)
  • April 18, 2011- This is a Carpenter Ant, genus Camponotus. Found him on the side of the house eating some type of vegetation. They don't eat wood, they only nest in it. (Day 108:365 @sharkbayte)
  • April 11, 2011-This is a six spotted tiger beetle (Cicendela sexguttata). I found him flying low to the ground; while the sun was hitting him the colors were dazzling. (Day 101:365 @sharkbayte)
  • March 18, 2011-Red flower from my neighbors yard. I tried to get a closer macro but my chair prevented me from getting any closer. 77:365 @sharkbayte

  • March 2, 2011-Ties that bind. I found a bunch of these branches tied around another trees branches, tying the two together. I am not sure why it was happening and thought it was interesting. (Day 61 #365Project @sharkbayte)
  • March 1, 2011-Spring has sprung! The past two days it has been very warm and I have noticed that the Forsythia Bush is starting to bloom. I tried some macro shots, but with the gusting winds it wasn't that successful of a day. (Day 60 #365Project @sharkbayte)
  • February 3, 2011 – Patterns and lines. I liked the patterns and the lines on the wood as well as the cord from Jasper's retractable leash, which was wrapped around the wood post. I cropped this macro to follow the rule of thirds but I didn't really like how it looked. I tried to play with it more but my body isn't willing to cooperate. #365Project Day 34 @sharkbayte
  • White Amaryllis, my neighbor called me over to check out her new plants she had gotten. I don't have a lot of flower photography skills, and had a hard time trying to figure out what to do with this one. Especially, I shouldn't be talking as I am holding the camera and snapping away.
