  • Roller the reindeer. He is Bossy Bear's BFF. He is also AWOL from Santa's Reindeer Flight School, where he is a student. Roller's dream is to be the best skateboarder alive. I took this outdoors and tried to get it darker around him even though it was very bright outside. so I played with my cameras settings and basically got this. I have mixed feelings about this one. I will have to play more outside when it is very bright out again. <br /> <br /> Thank you so much for all the comments on my Wheel Bug picture yesterday. That's not the first time I captured him. The only difference was this time I was able to show the details 100x better than I did 8 months ago. I guess I am improving some, but I still have a long way to go!
  • A Wheel bug - Arilus cristatus. This is the largest of the assassin bugs. It gets its name from the cog like wheel on it's back. The neighbors cats for the most part respect the deer, I have seen the deer sniffing them. or a cat will walk in between where they are laying down. It's beautiful to see the different species co-exist peacefully. Something I wish for all creatures great and small on this tiny planet we all share.
  • I was shooting something else. Lost in my own world, when I heard rustling of leaves, figured it was a cat or something. But this cutie wanted to see what I was doing.   • A female Downy Woodpecker. My neighbor's bird feeders were swaying so I decided to check things out. There were 4 different species there as well as the neighborhood cats. The cats went away empty handed but not for a lack of trying. My neighbor raised the heights of the bird feeders. Thanks for making me smile reading them! The only lights I have are the overhead room light I think it has 2 bulbs in it and I use my speed lite. I need to get a cord so I can use the speed lite off camera.

  • As I was coming out the door, I saw a commotion out the corner of my eye. The buck entered the yard and scared the does away. By the time I turned my chair around to get a better look he was gone. The next yard over had activity of some sort and he got spooked. (2010.11.28) Day 333 #365Project @sharkbayte
  • Well this was the first shot from our photo shoot. Not too thrilled with it as Suzuki wore his weapons and showed two faces today. Jun was complaining his weapon was touching her. Then, all heck broke loose. I couldn't corral the group back after that so we will try again. If not, then no Christmas cards...we'll see if they behave next time.     Our dogs like veggies, too. When we had miniature dachsunds, they were crazy about dill pickles. Our sheltie likes to vocalize and "talk" to us. The longer he goes on, the more excited he gets. This is an adorable shot.
