365 Project 2010
A Wheel bug - Arilus cristatus. This is the largest of the assassin bugs. It gets its name from the cog like wheel on it's back. Day 337 (2010.12.03) #365Project @sharkbayte
thank you for all the comments on my deer pic yesterday. We have about 10 plus deer that sleep in my yard every night. The neighbors cats for the most part respect the deer, I have seen the deer sniffing them. or a cat will walk in between where they are laying down. It's beautiful to see the different species co-exist peacefully. Something I wish for all creatures great and small on this tiny planet we all share.

on February 1, 2011Yeark, not sure I'd like to have that scary thing in my back yard.
But I would take a few deers once in a while...

on January 7, 2011I'm not too sure I want to live in a place where the assassins are bigger than I am. I've never seen anything like that before. I wonder if the idea for the rowels on spurs came from this bug. Great shot. (Btw, I meant "Now" not "Mow" in my previous comment.)

on December 25, 2010I came back as I said I would! This shot is amazing..I see you shot at 2000 ISO with a 22F aperture. It is amazing how sharp and clear it is! What made you shoot with such a small aperture and high ISO? Really a stunning macro. I am assuming with a 100mm lens you are using the 100mm 2.8 macro. Very nice shot!
