• July 3, 2011-Early evening light on the petunias. I wasn't outside to long, as it's extremely hot again. This caught my eye as I got closer to it. My neighbor has these hanging above my head so this is about the only part of the plant I can see. (184:365)
Thanks for commenting on my green snake shot yesterday!
• July 2, 2011, (183:365) I love living in the woods, and amongst the wildlife, as there is always something to see. This beautifully colored, docile snake was three feet from my front door and eye level with me. This is a Rough Green Snake. She was about 4 feet long, very slender and more afraid of me and the neighbors that came over to see her. She was wrapped in-between the lattice work. Also there was a baby praying mantis but when she turned around , he disappeared. (I am thinking lunch), but he could have flown off, I couldn't see what happened because of the angle. Anyway this type snake can be handled and they very rarely if ever bite. They eat insects.
Thanks for commenting and checking out Professor Layton! (he was thrilled with the comments).
• July 01, 2011 (182/365) Meet Professor Hershel Layton-(レイトン教授 Reiton-kyōju). He is a professor of Archaeology at Gressenheller University in London. A rather dashing gentleman, with a brilliant mind for solving puzzles and mysteries. He drinks as much tea as I do coffee. And he always wears his top hat (I think to bed too!). Today when we chatted he wanted to run an idea past me and get my thoughts on it. I just need to get back to him with an answer before next week. (I can't believe he gave me a deadline!?!)
thank you for all the comments on my deer shot yesterday!
• June 30, 2011-She is getting more trusting with me. She actually came up to me tonight as I was trying to check on my garden. Usually she'll stay laying in the yard or by the tree. Not tonight. In a few frames she was so close I couldn't get a full shot without backing up. I thought perhaps she had a baby near by but you can see she hasn't delivered yet. In the distance is her son from last year. (Day 181:365 @sharkbayte)
thanks for commenting on my Blue Jay shot yesterday and the others.
• June 29, 2011-Finally I caught up with the Blue Jay's (Cyanocitta cristata). I had seen a few flying around at the feeders and other yards, but every time I put the camera to my face or turned to grab a shot they took off. I got a few shots, one I really liked but you couldn't tell it was a Blue Jay by the way she held her head. I had counted five so far, there probably are a few more. (Day 180:365 @sharkbayte).
• June 28, 2011-Seeing double? As I was getting some coffee, I heard Cheburashka yelling, "Gena come quick it's us, it's us, Gena!" Gena got to the computer first and thought he was seeing double, then he read the caption and told Cheburashka it was their cousins in Russia. Susan and Rustem had photographed them and posted their picture for us to see. Needless to say all of the gang gathered at that point and then I was booted off the computer until they all had their turn playing. Oy vey! what a day! (Day 179:365 @sharkbayte) Sorry I didn't do RUSU's picture justice, I was having a hard time with the screen not showing up, then it was too light...I was getting frustrated and had to return to bed. I know that's not an excuse but I will revisit this type of shot again when I have more time and can work it out better.
• June 26, 2011-This is I believe a Hybrid Oriental Lily Scheherazade, that my neighbor across the street is growing. This is the yard I get most of my bird shots from. (Day 177:365 @sharkbayte)
Thank you so much for all the comments and well wishes, all very much appreciated, you all are so great! I wish I was a better patient, but I get bored quickly. I stayed up a bit too much yesterday and paying for it today. So I'll try to keep a low profile today. Hope everyone is having a wonderful Sunday.
• June 25, 2011-By the time I went outside the sun had already set and the sky was changing colors. I grabbed a few shots, went back inside, within ten minutes or so it was raining hard. Which is a good thing we need the rain. (Day 176:365 @sharkbayte).

Thanks for all the comments on my shot yesterday. I'm sorry I couldn't get to everyone's picture and comment, I hope I can comment more today, when I can sit up for a bit. (My lymphedema decided to activate, so I have to stay in bed with legs elevated as high as possible. Basically I can't sit up too long. But when I can I will try to comment.)
• June 24, 2011-Topo is a warm, friendly kinda mole. And Baby Milo is a mischievous chimp, full of life and funny. So when Baby Milo arrived early this morning, Topo was one of the first to greet him and Topo's first words to him was "Hug my Neck" (something I only heard said in the South). Baby Milo turned to the gang and said, "What neck?" That started the day off for us. I wanted a group shoot, but things got kinda out of control. Maybe I'll get them to calm down and get that group shot for tomorrow. No guarantees with this group though. I think we are in for a weird and wacky weekend! Hope everyone's is fantastic! Just like all of you! Thank you so very much for the kind comments on my shot yesterday! You folks are the best and inspire me everyday! (Day 175:365 @sharkbayte)
• June 23, 2011-I couldn't resist the shot as it was eye level for me and one of the few remaining flowers on this plant. (Day 174:365 @sharkbayte)

Thank you all so much for that overwhelming response to my Wasp shot yesterday, your comments encourage me to learn more! Thank you.
• June 22, 2011-This is a Paper Wasp, Polistes fuscatus (Fabricius, 1793). I believe I have the correct species as there are many color variations. Found him sitting on the fence post as I was checking the garden out. First time I had one sit long enough for me to take it's picture and without me getting chased off. (What that translates to is: I had the chair in reverse and took off like a scaredy-cat) (Day 173:365 @sharkbayte)
thank you for all the wonderful comments on my Flesh Fly shot yesterday, I truly appreciate it. For those that asked the lens I used yesterday as well as today is my favorite, it hardly leaves my camera it's the canon "EF 100mm f/2.8L IS USM MACRO"
• June 21, 2011-This is a Flesh fly; Genus Sarcophaga. The adults usually feed on nectar, fruit juices, sap and honeydew. They are found near decaying materials, carcasses, and dung (as seen here). They don't bite. And they are helpful with forensic entomology. They are one of the first arrive on a dead carcass, so investigators can determine time of death. I first thought this was a common housefly, but its red eyes and gray stripes gave it away. Thank you for all the comments on my moon shot, I truly appreciate each one. (Day 172:365 @sharkbayte).
• June 20, 2011- Took this early in the am on the 19th. Jasper needed to go outside and when I saw the moon I couldn't resist. I didn't think the sky was going to clear up from the storm earlier in the evening, but I am glad it did. (day 171:365 @sharkbayte)
• June 19, 2011-New flowers my neighbor brought home. She called me over so I can get a few shots, which was nice of her. Thanks for all the comments on my photo yesterday. Happy Father's Day to all the Dad's! (Day 170:365 @sharkbayte)
• June 18, 2011-Midnight snacks. The deer have been grazing through my neighbor's flowers. So what was left she placed in planters high above my head on a shelf outside her windows. This was shot with her window and screen in the background. (Day 169:365 @sharkbayte)
Thank you for all the wonderful comments on my Beetle shot yesterday, it was overwhelming, you all rock!
• June 17, 2011-The artist and his masterpiece. Here Mr. Beetle proudly shows off his latest creation. After showing my neighbor this latest creation, she started treating her plants. (Day 168:365 @sharkbayte) Thank you for all the wonderful comments and welcoming Cheburashka to the family.
• June 16, 2011-What an awesome surprise we had today. Cheburashka's cousin "The 2004 Russian Winter Olympic team mascot Cheburashka" (yes same name, his parents named him first) arrived today via my awesome friends, Susan and Rustem a.k.a. RuSu (thank you!) What a fun day and night! Our newest member sang and danced with us for hours. I left everyone partying and wanted to post this before heading to bed! Thank you all for your kind comments on my catnap photo yesterday! You all rock! (Day 167:365 @sharkbayte)
• June 15, 2011-Catnap. Billy seems to be the king of catnaps. Seems his favorite spot is under the trees, in the shade, on top of the tractor cover. Who's better than him? (Day 166:365 @sharkbayte)
• June 14, 2011-Sun block, SPF 50? I'm looking forward to the cooler temps (mid 80's) and less humidity.(Day 165:365 @sharkbayte) Thank you for all the terrific comments on my moon shot yesterday.
