April 30. 2011 - A female Common Whitetail skimmer. I wish I had my macro lens on when I spotted her.   • May 04, 2011-A cicada, same group as yesterday's picture a little more details. This is the Diceroprocta apache species. The red eyes are the giveaway. They produce the loudest sounds in the insect world recorded at over 100 decibels and it's the males that make the noise to call the females. The adult male cicada possesses two ribbed membranes one on each side of its first abdominal segment. By contracting and releasing the membranes a sound is made. There is more to it, but I won't give a biology lesson. They also make these sounds in defense. (Day 124:365 @sharkbayte)<br /> <br /> thanks for all the comments on yesterday's picture.
  • May 03, 2011-New molt. As I was having my coffee without a daily posted I spotted these cicadas just emerging from their cast off exoskeletons. There are five on the lattice work this am.   • May 02, 2011-"Daisy, Daisy give me your answer do. I'm half-crazy over the love of you..." Every time I see a daisy that song pops into my head, which is something my Grandfather would sing every time I spotted a daisy while on our walks. Oh how I miss my Grandpa. (Day 122:365 @sharkbayte)
  • May 01, 2011-Peek-A-Boo. I can't be sure if she was playing or pretending to be camera shy. Either way I caught her. (Day 121:365 @sharkbayte)

  • April 29, 2011-Stopping by for a quick grazing. I haven't seen the deer in weeks. I was a bit worried but they are back and the little button buck is growing fast, his antlers are sprouting more and he is thin but overall looking good, which made me happy.   • April 27, 2011- Rain drops and Irises, okay should have been roses, but this is all I have for today. I briefly went outside to take pictures and then the t-storms returned. I didn't want to risk getting tagged or having my camera drenched. I am sure the camera might withstand the rain but with my luck, I didn't want to experiment. (Day 117:365 @sharkbayte)

  • April 25, 2011-More new flowers. My neighbor has a bunch of new flowers she recently planted; she wasn't sure what these are. Now, the challenge is for me to capture the new plantings before the deer eat them.   • April 24, 2011- An angel or tree flower, this reminds me of an angel; the head is the center of the flower, with two wings or arms and the body. As a kid, we had several small white angel ornaments for Christmas and this reminds me of them. Thank you for all the comments on my photos. Happy Easter! (Day 114:365 @sharkbayte)
  • April 23, 2011 – “The Easter Bunny helpers.” When Rickey and Jun left the house early today, I followed them as they were being so secretive. Now I know what they were doing and we have to keep the area a secret because they were doing a special task. Today’s task was to help gather the special eggs for the Easter Bunny.   • April 22, 2011- Imposter!! During a routine roll call, the scuttlebutt around the chicken coup was that there was a spy amongst the group! Ah, such trickery!   • April 21, 2011 – Red and the Peeps. Red decided that he was going to do a show with the Peeps; titled "Red and the Peepers’". (Oh, so creative and original…) Anywho, this is it, the one and only act. He sings and they are his backup singers. It's very enjoyable if you are tone deaf!   • April 19, 2011-Cool colors on this flower. As usual I am not sure what this is as it's in my neighbor’s yard. I love her yard; she has so many different flowers growing all over. (Day 109:365 @sharkbayte)
  • April 18, 2011- This is a Carpenter Ant, genus Camponotus. Found him on the side of the house eating some type of vegetation. They don't eat wood, they only nest in it. (Day 108:365 @sharkbayte)
  • April 17, 2011-Scared. This look is the result from mixing some really wild weather, tornadoes, t-storms, downpours and a Chihuahua. Normally Jasper doesn't get too nervous or scared when we have storms but not yesterday. (Day 107:365 @sharkbayte)
  • April 16, 2011 – “My Buddy.” Pancho, Lucy and their owner were returning from a run when we met. Pancho did his usual whining and then did something he never did. He jumped up on the arm of my wheelchair and licked my face. After we talked a bit the owner left with the pups. But, Pancho wasn't leaving. He started to walk away but only took 5 steps and came back for me. Here he wants to listen to the command to leave but resisted. I ended up having to go with him so he would leave. I think he's my buddy if I had any doubts before. (Day 106:365 @sharkbayte)
