Hi old friends and new..... Stopped by today to visit and I hear and see some of the same old stuff.... only worse. I agree with John .... about addressing the problem. To "let it slide" only makes it worse. When you have a cancer, you cut it out. Thanks John, for keeping it at the forefront until Smugmug does something. If they ever do......

For Bartlett and sharkbayte. James Hill gave a great explanation, but I will add a little more. The Dailys are reset (cleared) at 3:00 am eastern time and we start a new day.
Important.....Of course, make sure you have selected "Daily Photos" under the settings of your Daily gallery (project 365). You select it under "community" at the bottom. It will not appear unless you do this...... and It will not appear in the Dailys until someone gives you a thumbs up or comment. Give yourself a thumbs up to get it to appear and get you started. I also used to "feature" my daily post within the gallery. After that, as viewers look at the photos, it will rise or fall on the list, depending if you are given an Up or Down by viewers. Rarely are down thumbs given, except with the problem John is addressing. Understand, that if you post early in the morning.... after 3AM, more viewers will have a chance to see you photos and you will probably get more thumbs up, thus ranking higher. If you post at 9 o'clock at night... and there are already 200 photos on the list, you will start at the bottom ..... and have little time to more up the listings before it resets at 3AM. I used to post around 7AM. I recall emailing Smugmug with the photo disappearing problem over a year ago. It seems to have gotten worse. One apple spoils the whole barrel. If your photo has disappeared, If you have a copy.... you can repost.

I suggest doing away with the thumbs...... and ranking should determined by the number of comments..... Good and Bad. This way we learn what is good ... or bad.... and a higher ranking would draw attention to those opinions. Good or bad.
